The American Pulse Association Announces
The Great School Lunch Contest Powered by Pulses

Moscow, ID —December 7, 2015 — This national competition challenges teams of 4th–8th grade students and 9th–12th grade students along with an adult advisor to create and promote exciting and healthy new lunch recipes featuring beans, dry peas, lentils, and chickpeas which are known as pulses.

The national competition kicked off on December 7, 2015 and will accept entries until March 7, 2016. Students and their advisors will also have easy access to a number of links and helpful tools provided on the www.greatschoollunchcontest.com site.

This is the perfect opportunity for educators and adult advisors to teach kids how to creatively incorporate healthy pulse crops in an everyday lunch. Plus, 2016 is the International Year of Pulses; and these crops will be celebrated worldwide!

Prizing Information:

The top three teams from each grade group will receive cash prizes for their school.

In addition, the three Finalist teams in grades 9-12 will receive a trip to participate in a final cooking competition in San Antonio, Texas and attend a Culinary Institute workshop in July 2016.
